Why buy UV rash guards?

Children and babies are very sensitive to UV rays. They are all the more vulnerable on the beach or at the edge of the water. This is why it is essential to protect them as best as possible. Today, anti-UV clothing is a very effective eco-responsible option and allows you to spend holidays without sunburn.

Sunscreens help protect your child's sensitive skin, but you will have to remember to apply some every two hours, which will make you run after your children who generally do not like being covered with cream. In addition, a study published in May 2019 in the journal JAMA [1] shows that these chemicals applied liberally to the skin quickly find their way into the blood. They could therefore accumulate in the body and prove to be toxic, disrupt the endocrine system, and even cause cancer. So prefer an anti-UV swimsuit - ideally with long sleeves - which will correspond to an anti-UV protection index 50, which is optimal.

What is UV clothing?

UV protective clothing protects the skin from the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays. The so-called “anti-UV” clothing differs above all from conventional clothing by its UPF index. The higher this index, the more the skin is protected. Do you love swimming, jumping or taking a dip in the water? Think about anti-UV swimsuits!

Anti-UV clothing is effective protection, especially during swimming, during which sunscreens are less effective. They dry quickly so that baby does not catch cold when getting out of the water, and can continue to enjoy great holidays! Cool, right?

At Lison Paris, anti-UV clothing is easy to put on (thanks to the zips) and unlike sunscreen, which must be reapplied every two hours, they do not need to be changed during the daytime.

An anti-UV swimsuit rather than a simple t-shirt

The use of textiles will provide a first barrier between UV rays and your child's skin. But beware: not all textiles offer the same sun protection:

A simple white cotton T-shirt will protect from the sun but will only offer protection with a maximum index of 15, and this only when dry. Once wet, its protection index will be almost nil. It is therefore important to choose specially anti-UV materials.

Here are the minimum standards to be required:

OEKO TEX STANDARD 100 standard: for textiles certified free of harmful substances (e.g. no toxic, irritating, carcinogenic substances) respecting the environment, perfect for use in childcare.
UPF 50+ standard: dry or wet, the garment will only let through 1/50th of the UV rays produced by the sun. Your Fripouille will then be 98% protected from UVA and UVB rays. This is a guarantee of maximum sun protection.
These criteria are of course respected in the Lison Paris swimwear and anti-UV clothing collections. Our swimsuits, anti-UV T-shirts and baby suits offer quick drying and are highly resistant to salt and chlorine. Thanks to Lison Paris you no longer have to choose between style and sun protection.

In addition, the fibers we use are eco-responsible and come from fishing nets abandoned in the oceans. These Econyl® fibers are therefore recycled and recyclable!
