Lison Paris the eco-friendly swimwear brand from Paris

Summer is a few months away still, but it’s a great time to start shopping around for your summer favorites. This year choose to shop eco-friendly brands, being more responsible and environmentally-friendly with our wardrobes is more important than ever.

There are lots of great ways to act more ethically including hand-me-downs from friends and family; buying pre-loved clothing; but if you are buying new, then it’s important to support more sustainable brands.

At Lison Paris, most of the swimsuit collections for girls are made from ghost fish nets. These abandoned fishing nets are picked up and regenerated into a recycled Nylon fiber. It’s a very innovative and sustainable way to create recycled swimwear.

In this article we’ll explain the important aspects of what it takes to make eco-friendly swimwear for little girls and boys.

What is conventional swimwear made from?

“Normal” swimsuits are made from very polluting fabrics like polyester, spandex and nylon which are all derived from oil. This is a problem because:

- Oil is a finite resource which is being rapidly depleted;
- The carbon emissions involved in extracting the resources and creating the fabric are incredibly high;
- Millions of micro-plastics are shed during the garment’s use phase, and the fabric isn’t biodegradable at the end of its life, taking hundreds of years to break down.

So, what exactly is an eco-swimwear brand?

Lison Paris uses an innovative new fabric called ECONYL, which directly tackles plastic pollution in the ocean by taking nylon waste from discarded fishing nets.

Introduced in 2011, the Econyl fabric has made an incredible impact in the fashion industry through its innovative manufacturing approach and potential to create change. ECONYL, created by Italian firm Aquafil, uses synthetic waste such as industrial plastic, waste fabric, and fishing nets from oceans, then recycles and regenerates them into a new nylon yarn that is exactly the same quality as virgin nylon

Econyl is recyclable nylon regenerated from waste products. It’s easy to understand the positive impact this recycled fabric has on the ocean’s health when we compare the traditional nylon-manufacturing method to the innovative way of producing Econyl.

It also uses things like carpet offcuts, industrial plastic and fabric scraps. This waste is then turned into a high-performance swimwear fiber. Lison Paris uses this fiber to create eco-friendly collections and sustainable swimsuit for girls, boys and teens.

Our bestsellers, the one-piece swimsuit Bora Bora for girls is made from 100% recycled fabric and also offers a very high UPF 50+ protection, which is the highest protection against UV damage. If you are looking for a two-piece swimsuit for your girl or a trendy triangle bikini for your teenager, know that Lison Paris offers a large choice of styles and a great range of colors and prints. Most of our collections are eco-friendly and sustainable fabrics made from Econyl fiber. A few of our swimsuits for girls are made with “conventional” fabric because they are very rare and exclusive fabrics from Italy. Some have very intricate weaving, details, Lurex or ruffles which unfortunately are still not made from recycled fabrics.

So, now you know a little more about our fabrics. We spent a long time looking for the best providers and finding the perfect fabric for our swimsuit collections. As well as being incredibly soft and ultra-resistant to chlorine and sun creams, our fabric offers UPF 50+ UV protection. Our swimsuits are made from a very technical and resistant fiber which makes them the perfect swimsuits for kids who love to enjoy their summers.

Whether jumping in a pool, a pond or lounging on a beach on a hot summer afternoon, Lison Paris’ eco-friendly swimwear is created to dazzle and last!
